Fully Draining – Lightspan’s overlapping drainage design means that should water penetrate past the outer gasket it will be channelled through the system and dispersed at the system’s lowest point. When tested to CWCT test method 5, Lightspan passed Water Penetration of 1000PA. |

Air Permeability – When tested to CWCT test method 4, Lightspan passed Air Infiltration of 600PA |

Thermal Efficiency – Lightspan takes the aesthetic and structural benefits of aluminium and combines them with the thermal efficiency of PVC and TPE. In principle, we ‘house’ both sides of the glazing in thermally efficient materials – co-extruded PVC pressure plate outside, co-extruded PVC thermal break beneath protecting the glass seals and large TPE gaskets internally. The external cover cap and the internal structural members are manufactured from aluminium. The aluminium screw port within these members is set back behind the internal glazing |

When you consider that aluminium, a very good conductor of heat, has a thermal conductivity of 160W(m-K) whereas PVC has a thermal conductivity of 0.17W(m-K) you can probably understand why we have adopted this approach particularly in light of the Governments drive to improve the thermal performance of new buildings.
